Lake Lure has been designated by National Geographic Magazine as one of
the 10 most beautiful manmade lakes in the United States. With 22
miles of shoreline, it provides many different scenes of majesty,
particularly at sunset.
In 2001, a major expansion was made to the Beach @ Lake Lure. It is a popular place to swim, sun, and
picnic. There is also an area that has water cannons, water wars and
water slides.
The Town Of Lake Lure is developing a series of walking trails in the
woods around the Municipal golf course at present about two miles are
open to the public.

from the top of the "rock", there are also hiking trails, picnic areas,
special programs, and the 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls. The Park is open
year-round! New information regarding Chimney rock park. The park has
been purchased by The State Of North Carolina and extended to over 2300

 Weather
The weather in July & August is
usually a day time high of between 85/90 degrees. If you don't like hot
weather then April/May or September/ October may suit you better. The
fall season in the valley is quite spectacular. Visitors come from all
over the world to see the changing of the leaves. It usually lasts from
mid October to mid November depending on the season. The spring is also
a pretty time of the year with all the woodland flowers trying to flower
before the trees leave them in the shade.
